Welcome to PubliCam! This app will help you register your security camera(s) with . will have no direct access to your camera but may ask you for access to a recording as they investigate a crime committed in your neighborhood. Registering a camera is simple and will take 3-4 minutes. Data entry is split into several "blocks." First, you will be asked to enter the address (location) of the camera. You'll then enter additional camera details. Once you have entered information about the first camera, you can click on "Add another camera" to repeat the process. If you're registering just one camera, continue with the Contacts information by expanding the Contacts block (to expand a block, click on the "+" sign; to collapse it, click on the "-" sign). Finally, you'll enter the so-called "captcha" to verify that a real person has entered this information and click on Register. will provide you with the Registration Agreement for your review. For more details, expand the sections below. If you still have question, please contact at 714-861-0771. Thank you for helping fight crime in our city.
Once you've specified the address in the Location field and hit "Enter" (or "Go" on your mobile device) you'll see a detailed map of the area with the camera icon positioned at the location. You will be able to move (drag) the camera icon around and place it on the map to correspond to the exact position of the camera on the building: for example, the front of the building, or a corner – wherever the camera is actually located.
You'll then be asked to enter the name and type of business where the camera is located. If it's a private residence, you may enter "private" in those fields or leave them blank. Please describe the recording area: even though the police will see the camera on the map, it would be helpful if you could indicate the area recorded by the camera. For example: "Facing the street," or "facing the backyard," or "facing the intersection." The cameras will only be visible to , not other users.
You can add some specifics about the camera, such as the recording period, from a drop-down menu, and the video retention period (how long recordings are stored before being recycled). If the camera belongs to a security company, such as ADT, you would enter that information as well. Since may need to access a recording, you'll need to enter where the recording is stored (e.g. to a USB device, Wireless/Cloud, DVD or other). If you're not sure, just click on "Other" and enter "Not sure."
You'll then select the recording quality: below 720ppi, 720ppi or HD, which is higher than 720. If your camera can record at night using infrared light, please check the "Is infrared" box.
You'll add your name and phone number and, if available, an alternative name and phone.
